Caregiving Service Information
Thanks for expressing interest in my caregiving services! My name is Elliot Neal and I am a certified home care aid (HCA) in the state of Washington. My education has included specialty mental health and dementia training and I have completed the Heartsaver CPR AED First Aid training through the American Heart Association. I hold a deep respect for my clients’ right to confidentiality and have previously received HIPAA compliance training through the Village. I have been a caregiver for two years and have prior experience at Village at the Harbor, the local residential facility, as a resident assistant. I have also worked as an in-home caregiver with Village at Home. My primary goal with my clients is to make sure they are getting the care they need and feel comfortable and well supported in the process. I love to connect with clients by exchanging stories, cooking, puzzling, making art and taking trips around the island. I care about my clients and I am committed to helping folks have a good day.
I charge $40.00 an hour and will charge for a minimum of one hour per visit. To account for ever rising costs of gas and my distance from town, I charge a travel fee that reflects the current cost of gas per mile traveled for care. I bill twice a month and send out invoices on the 1st and 16th, requesting payment be received by the 8th and 23rd of the month. I am happy to provide paper and digital copies of the invoices, let me know if you’d like to go paperless! I accept payment as cash or check as well as through Zelle or Venmo.
I am generally available Saturday through Tuesday. I have limited availability on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, please contact me directly about scheduling as these hours are subject to change depending on my current schedule. I provide a variety of services in-home including (but of course not limited to):
Assistance with ADLs (activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, eating, etc.)
Standby and one person assist with transfers
Transport to appointments
Trips out around the island or in town (I am very mindful of safety and accessibility on excursions.)
Companionship
Dementia care
Meal preparation
Medication assistance
Light housekeeping (laundry, dishes, dusting, vacuum, etc.)
Personal care (assistance with toileting, bathing, cuing brushing teeth, lotion application, etc.)
Basic pet care (feeding, walking, scooping litter, etc.)
Hospice care
To arrange for my services, please reach out in advance as the intake appointment will be scheduled ahead of the first care visit. We will work together on a care agreement, this is a document that outlines important information and mutually establishes what care is needed. I do bill for this time. Plan for the intake to take a maximum of an hour. Please take some time to consider what care you anticipate the client to need and plan to have a list of the client’s diagnoses, allergies and medications handy. This includes prescription drugs as well as those over the counter and supplements.
I would also like to note that I wear a mask in all public spaces as a means of preventing illness in myself as well as my clients. I prefer to mask indoors around my clients for our mutual well being, though if wearing a mask impedes care, I will take it off in private spaces upon request. I do not take off my mask in any public settings. If a client is sick with a contagious disease, I will mask at my discretion. Cancellation within a 24 hour period will incur a charge of 50% of expected payment per hour scheduled unless under specific circumstances. My rate for emergent care provided outside of my regular hours is set at $50.00 hourly. Consultations on the phone will be billed for at my hourly rate if the call lasts longer than 15 minutes. I do not work overnights or provide case management services at this time. I have references available upon request. I only provide services on San Juan Island.
